Paul George Suspended 25 Games After NBA Anti-Drug Policy Violation

The NBA has handed Paul George a 25-game suspension without pay after determining he violated the league’s anti-drug program. The suspension takes him out of the lineup for a large portion of the season and creates a major challenge for the Philadelphia 76ers as they try to stay competitive.

George released a statement taking full responsibility for the situation. He explained that the violation stemmed from taking an improper medication while seeking treatment for a personal issue. He apologized to the Sixers organization, his teammates, and the fans, acknowledging that his decision hurt the team.

During the suspension, George said his focus will be on improving both his mental and physical health so he can return in the best possible condition. The team will now have to adjust rotations and expectations until he is eligible to come back later in the season.
