Dinosaurs and Dragons Take Over Daytona: Roaring into the Rolex 24

DAYTONA BEACH, FL – Rexy and Spike continue to stun the paddock and IMSA fans at the start of the season for the IMSA WeatherTech Championship this year in the Rolex 24.

Here’s the run down on AO Racing’s cars for the race:

Rexy, a bright green T-Rex styled Porsche 911 GT3 R that is also known as the 911 GT3 Rawr, kicks off the livery’s 3rd season with the AO Racing team. Returning as the reigning champion in class for the IMSA WeatherTech championship. He had three gold teeth removed, signaling their three race wins, to be replaced by a single gold tooth sporting a diamond “24”. Celebrating their championship win for the team and drivers in 2024.

Spike, usually known for its purple dragon livery from Oreca races in the LMP2 class, AO Racing, after winning last year’s European Le Man series in the Pro-AM LMP2 class in Le Man, opted to go for a brand new gold livery for the 64th running of the Rolex 24 in Daytona. In the team’s own words, “While Spike the Dragon rested deep in his lair, he molted and his purple scales were shed! This month, the 2025 @imsa_racing WeatherTech and @elms_official champion returns to Daytona International Speedway, reborn in gold!”

Roxy, unfortunately the pink sister Porsche 911 GT3 R to Rexy won’t be making an appearance for this race. Often showing up Rexy in the neck-snapping competition, AO Racing has not entered a second livery in the GTD Pro class for the 64th Daytona 24.

The 64th Rolex 24 At Daytona airs live starting Saturday, January 24, on NBC at 1:30 p.m. ET with flag-to-flag streaming coverage on Peacock.
