Tier 1: The New Top Contender

  1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-1, NFC South Leader) The Bucs are the new best team in the NFC. They secured their fifth win with a statement victory over the 49ers, 30-19. Baker Mayfield is playing MVP-caliber football, and the team’s offense is gelling perfectly. The loss of Fred Warner for the 49ers significantly opens the door for Tampa Bay to seize control of the conference. Next Week (Monday Night Football): at Detroit Lions (Monday, 7:00 PM ET)

Tier 2: (Most Of) The NFC West

  1. Los Angeles Rams (4-2) The Rams bounced back from their Week 5 loss with a dominant 17-3 win over the Baltimore Ravens. Their defense absolutely suffocated the Ravens’ rushing attack, proving they remain one of the most complete teams in the league. Next Week: BYE
  2. Seattle Seahawks (4-2) The Seahawks are finding ways to win tough games, knocking off the Jaguars 20-12 on the road. Their defense is underrated, and the emergence of Jaxon Smith-Njigba as a superstar receiver makes their offense consistently dangerous. Next Week (Monday Night Football): vs. Houston Texans (Monday, 8:15 PM ET)
  3. San Francisco 49ers (4-2) A disappointing loss to the Buccaneers, 30-19, combined with the devastating injury to Fred Warner, causes a necessary drop. The talent is still immense, but losing their defensive leader makes their path much harder moving forward. Next Week (Sunday Night Football): vs. Atlanta Falcons (Sunday, 8:20 PM ET)

Tier 3: Contenders With Question Marks

  1. Philadelphia Eagles (4-2) The Eagles are reeling, dropping their second consecutive game in a stunning 34-17 loss to the Giants. The offense looked disjointed and turnover-prone. While they are 4-2, they are struggling badly and need a huge performance to stop the slide. Next Week: at Minnesota Vikings (Sunday, 1:00 PM ET)
  2. Detroit Lions (4-2, NFC North Leader) The Lions suffered a tough home loss to the Chiefs, 30-17, snapping their three-game winning streak. Their offense remains explosive, but inconsistency on defense allowed the Chiefs to pull away late. They must protect their division lead this week. Next Week (Monday Night Football): vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Monday, 7:00 PM ET)
  3. Green Bay Packers (3-1-1) The Packers returned from their bye week to beat the Bengals 27-18. Jordan Love looked sharp, and the defense was suffocating. With a 3-1-1 record, they are a dangerous force in the NFC North race. Next Week: at Arizona Cardinals (Sunday, 4:25 PM ET)
  4. Minnesota Vikings (3-2) The Vikings had a bye in Week 6, which was well-timed for rest and preparation. They hold a solid 3-2 record and are set up for a defining matchup against the reeling Eagles this week. Next Week: vs. Philadelphia Eagles (Sunday, 1:00 PM ET)
  5. Chicago Bears (3-2) The Bears won their third consecutive game, defeating the Commanders 25-24 in a thriller on Monday night. Caleb Williams is starting to deliver late-game heroics, and this team has built impressive momentum. Next Week: vs. New Orleans Saints (Sunday, 1:00 PM ET)
  6. Atlanta Falcons (3-2) The Falcons delivered a massive primetime victory, beating the Bills 24-14 on Monday night. Their running game remains elite, and the defense played lockdown football against Josh Allen. They are a dangerous team to face in the Wild Card hunt. Next Week (Sunday Night Football): at San Francisco 49ers (Sunday, 8:20 PM ET)

Tier 4: Still Searching for Consistency

  1. Carolina Panthers (3-3) The Panthers pulled off a huge upset, beating the Cowboys 30-27 on a last-second field goal. Now at 3-3, their season is back on track, and they are competing fiercely in the South. Next Week: at New York Jets (Sunday, 1:00 PM ET)
  2. Washington Commanders (3-3) The Commanders suffered a tough loss to the Bears, 25-24. They need to find consistency if they want to stay relevant in the competitive NFC East. Next Week: at Dallas Cowboys (Sunday, 4:25 PM ET)
  3. New York Giants (2-4) A shocking 34-17 victory over the Eagles shows the Giants have life. They will look to build on this upset, but the overall schedule remains brutal. Next Week: at Denver Broncos (Sunday, 4:05 PM ET)
  4. Dallas Cowboys (2-3-1) The Cowboys are in trouble. The 30-27 loss to the Panthers drops them to 2-3-1, and they are struggling to find a consistent defensive effort. They need a quick turnaround in Week 7. Next Week: vs. Washington Commanders (Sunday, 4:25 PM ET)
  5. Arizona Cardinals (2-4) The Cardinals fought hard but lost to the Colts 31-27. They continue to be competitive but need to find ways to finish games. Next Week: vs. Green Bay Packers (Sunday, 4:25 PM ET)
  6. New Orleans Saints (1-5) The Saints’ season continues to spiral after a 25-19 loss to the Patriots. At 1-5, they are firmly at the bottom of the NFC. Next Week: at Chicago Bears (Sunday, 1:00 PM ET)

Week 7: Top NFC Matchups

The NFC slate features some enormous games this week with major playoff and division implications:

  • Falcons at 49ers: A potential Wild Card preview with the winner gaining crucial tiebreaker advantage.
  • Eagles at Vikings: The reeling Eagles try to rebound against a well-rested Vikings squad.
  • Commanders at Cowboys: An NFC East rivalry game where the loser is essentially out of the division race.
