Big 12 Power Rankings

  1. Texas Tech Red Raiders (5-0, 2-0 B12) The Red Raiders seize the top spot after a resounding road win over Houston, 35-11. With an electric offense led by Behren Morton (345 yards) and a defense that ranks among the conference’s best, they are the new team to beat. Next Week: vs. Kansas
  2. BYU Cougars (5-0, 2-0 B12) BYU quietly climbed into the top two with a decisive 38-24 win over West Virginia. Freshman QB Bear Bachmeier had his best passing day yet (351 yards). The Cougars are a serious contender thanks to a dominant defense and a perfect record. Next Week: at Arizona
  3. Cincinnati Bearcats (4-1, 2-0 B12) The Bearcats are the biggest story of the week, upsetting previously undefeated Iowa State 38-30. Led by a bruising run game and quarterback Brendan Sorsby, Cincinnati is officially 2-0 in conference play and riding a four-game win streak. Next Week: vs. UCF
  4. Iowa State Cyclones (5-1, 2-1 B12) The Cyclones suffered their first loss in Cincinnati, 38-30. While the loss stings, Iowa State showed resilience in battling back from a large deficit. They remain one of the most complete teams in the league. Next Week: vs. Colorado
  5. Arizona State Sun Devils (4-1, 2-0 B12) Arizona State had a bye week but stays firmly in the top tier as one of the four teams still undefeated in conference play. Their 2-0 B12 record, including the Baylor road win, keeps them dangerous. Next Week: at Utah
  6. Utah Utes (4-1, 1-1 B12) Utah had a bye week and holds its spot in the upper half. They look to jump back into the conference race with a massive home game next week. Next Week: vs. Arizona State
  7. TCU Horned Frogs (4-1, 1-1 B12) TCU overcame an early 14-point deficit to defeat Colorado 35-21. QB Josh Hoover accounted for five touchdowns (four passing, one rushing), getting the Horned Frogs back to 1-1 in conference. Next Week: at Kansas State
  8. Baylor Bears (4-2, 2-1 B12) In the most dramatic game of the week, Baylor overcame a 14-point 4th-quarter deficit to stun Kansas State 35-34 on a last-second blocked field goal. This emotional win moves them to a solid 2-1 conference record. Next Week: Bye
  9. Kansas Jayhawks (4-2, 2-1 B12) Kansas earns a tough road win, beating UCF 27-20. The Jayhawks are now 2-1 in the conference and look like a tough out every week. Next Week: at Texas Tech
  10. Arizona Wildcats (4-1, 1-1 B12) The Wildcats bounced back from their loss to Iowa State with a decisive 41-13 win over Oklahoma State. The offense, led by QB Noah Fifita, looks capable of putting up points on anyone. Next Week: vs. BYU
  11. Houston Cougars (4-1, 1-1 B12) Houston took its first loss of the season, falling badly to Texas Tech, 35-11. This drop shows they still have a gap to close against the top tier of the conference. Next Week: at Oklahoma State
  12. UCF Knights (3-2, 0-2 B12) UCF’s early-season struggles continue with a 27-20 home loss to Kansas. Now sitting at 0-2 in conference play, the expectations for UCF are rapidly diminishing. Next Week: at Cincinnati
  13. Kansas State Wildcats (2-4, 1-2 B12) Losing a 14-point 4th-quarter lead to Baylor is demoralizing. At 2-4 overall and 1-2 in conference, K-State needs an immediate turnaround to salvage its season. Next Week: vs. TCU
  14. Colorado Buffaloes (2-4, 0-3 B12) The Buffaloes lost at home to TCU, 35-21, dropping them to 0-3 in conference. They continue to search for consistency against Power 4 opponents. Next Week: at Iowa State
  15. West Virginia Mountaineers (2-4, 0-3 B12) The Mountaineers suffered another double-digit loss, falling to BYU 38-24. They are tied for the conference lead in losses and need to find a solution fast. Next Week: Bye
  16. Oklahoma State Cowboys (1-4, 0-2 B12) The season is quickly spiraling for Oklahoma State after the 41-13 home loss to Arizona. At 1-4 and with an interim head coach, the season is already over. Next Week: vs. Houston

The upcoming Week 7 schedule features a number of massive conference battles. Don’t miss Kansas at Texas Tech, the unbeaten BYU at Arizona, and a critical Arizona State at Utah rivalry game.
