
Week 3 in the SEC had several big games and some surprises. Tennessee almost knocked off Georgia, Vanderbilt went on the road and demolished South Carolina, and Florida’s fall continued in Death Valley. The SEC has 8 teams that still look like CFP candidates, and top to bottom the league is easily the best in college football. For example, South Carolina and Florida, two of the worst teams in the SEC, would be near the top in any other conference.

- Vanderbilt A huge win over South Carolina propelled the Commodores into the top half of the rankings.
- Auburn Auburn continued its undefeated season with a comfortable win over South Alabama.
- Oklahoma The Sooners had a dominant win over Temple and are proving to be a force as they acclimate to the SEC.
- Missouri After a commanding victory over Louisiana, Missouri remains a strong team.
- Mississippi State Mississippi State had a dominant performance against Alcorn State.
- Arkansas The Razorbacks fought hard but fell just short in a high-scoring game against Ole Miss.
- Florida The Gators lost a tough rivalry game to LSU and have now lost two consecutive games.
- South Carolina The Gamecocks struggled against Vanderbilt, resulting in a fall in the rankings.
- Kentucky The Wildcats rebounded from their first loss with a decisive win over Eastern Michigan.
