NFL teams have until 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday to reduce their active rosters to 53 players.
A native of nearby Mount Laurel, N.J., McCord played every snap of the Eagles’ 19-17 preseason win over the New York Jets Friday but largely did not impress throughout the preseason.
McCord’s time appeared to run out when the Eagles trade for Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Howell on Sunday to add depth in the wake of Tanner McKee’s injury.
McCord, 22, played college football at Ohio State and Syracuse.
MIAMI DOLPHINS
The Miami Dolphins are releasing veteran cornerback Mike Hilton, his agents confirmed on Monday.
Hilton, 31, signed with the Dolphins in free agency on July 26 after four seasons each with Pittsburgh (2017-20) and Cincinnati (2021-24).
Hilton has recorded 13 interceptions, 11.5 sacks, 520 tackles (66 for losses) and 56 passes defensed in 123 career games (56 starts).
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
ESPN has reported that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are moving on from veteran Kyle Trask at quarterback, electing to roll with Teddy Bridgewater as the primary backup to starter Baker Mayfield.
Trask, 27, served as a backup for the Buccaneers — including No. 2 on the depth chart the past two seasons — following his selection in the second round (No. 64 overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft. The team resigned him in March, but Trask had been battling a shoulder injury this preseason. He has 11 pass attempts in his career.
Bridgewater 32, has flirted with retirement in recent seasons but returned for a comeback as the Detroit Lions’ backup the past two seasons. Over a 10-year career, Bridgewater has 15,120 passing yards and 75 touchdowns.
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
The Indianapolis Colts dealt for a veteran cornerback, sending a 2026 sixth-round draft pick to the Minnesota Vikings for Mekhi Blackmon.
Blackmon, 26, was a third-round selection of the Vikings in 2023, appearing in 15 games as a rookie. His second season was wiped out by an ACL injury suffered at the start of training camp.
If he passes his physical, Blackmon will join the Colts having started three games and recording 41 tackles with one interception as a Viking.
