Fleetwood Friday at East Lake: Day 2 Recap

ATLANTA — Tommy Fleetwood had spent plenty of time near the top of leaderboards in 2025. On Friday at East Lake, he put himself in the best position yet.

Fleetwood fired a 7-under 63 in the second round of the TOUR Championship, moving to 13 under for the tournament and into a share of the 36-hole lead with Russell Henley. It was his second consecutive round of at least 6-under after opening with a 64.

Fleetwood made eight birdies and one bogey during the round, steadily working his way up the leaderboard as East Lake continued to produce low scores. His fourth birdie of the day on No. 12 moved him into a tie with Henley, and another on No. 13 gave him the outright lead before he eventually finished at 13 under.

The bigger story was what the position represented.

Fleetwood entered the week still searching for his first PGA Tour victory. The 34-year-old had already accumulated 30 career top-five finishes on the PGA Tour without a win, including six runner-up finishes. East Lake was giving him another opportunity, and this time he had 36 holes left with a share of the lead.
