In a first half mostly played by second team players, the Chargers hold a two touchdown lead at the half of the NFL’s Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. The most notable news was Kyle Allen’s struggles, throwing two bad interceptions. Social media had fun with Allen’s struggles.

The best part of NFL preseason games like these are to see unheralded players get a chance to shine. One from each side did just that: Nikko Reed, the rookie UDFA rookie cornerback from Oregon had several hits and an interception and long return against Allen to set up the Lions’ second touchdown.

For the Lions, 7th round pick wide receiver Dominic Lovett (Georgia) had a strong half, leading the Lions in targets (6) and receptions (4) and justifying the camp buzz.

The most relevant story from the half was that Trey Lance had an outstanding half, going 9/12 for 97 yards and 2 touchdowns with a 137.8 QBR. Most importantly, he showed the command of the offense that 49ers fans hoped to see when he was drafted third overall in 2021.

EasySportz will continue to cover the Hall of Fame Game.
